Didn`t anyone dress well yesterday? These outfits are putting me in a bad mood. Fergie looks like the leader of a bike gang. There is absolutely such thing as TOO MUCH LEATHER. Next time there is a sale at The Leather Emporium, just pick one item Fergie. Maybe she`s going to a costume party, in which case, I applaud her for the commitment. I`m glad she lost those weird nail things she used to wear around.

Kirsten Dunst...somewhere.
Always a hot mess, Mischa.
No matter what she wears Mischa looks several different kinds of nuts. I think I would like this dress on someone less disastrous. it`s a really cute cut, I like the keyhole cut out and I love the flowery details in the fabric. The glittery shoes have to go though. And please fire whoever did your makeup, Mischa, you are wearing entirely too much eyeliner. The urine-dip hair colour isn`t your friend right now either.
J.Lo at Cannes
Phoebe Price: Always good for a laugh.
I love everything about this outfit. No, not because it is some great fashion feat. Because it is hilarious. So many kinds of bird feathers on one dress, and the hat is just the icing on the cake. Seriously, who told her this looked good...Please pull up you`re dress phoebe, you are a nip slip away from total failure.
Last Night's Looks: more Rachel Bilson
Judging by the last outfit I imagine that Rachel was asked to serve at this party, but then her boyfriend asked her to be his date. His very serious parents were there and she couldn`t admit that she was moonlighting as a server, so she spent the entire night changing in a closet and hiding her face so that she wouldnt be recognized. This Chanel dress is so pretty though. I love the colour, and the feather detailing...and this time she`s wearing shoes so she doesnt have to stand on her tippy toes.

Celebrity Looks From Last Night
As usual, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is rocking black from head-to-toe. She looks cute. Cute dress, cute shoes...a little bit boring but cute. And while I like her new hair colour (so much better than solid black), why must she always look like she's emptied out a bottle of dippity-do onto her bangs? I'm over the comb-over, I wish she was too.
Kate Moss. I think I'll always be a bit bias when it comes to Kate Moss, but to me she always looks effortlessly cool. Besides, pants are totally overrated.
Boo. I'm so dissapointed. I always root for SJP, even when everyone else seems to have turned their backs on her (she was once voted the unsexiest woman of all time, WTF?!). In this case though, I cannot. I really dislike this dress...something about that neckline isn't doing anything for me, I don't like the hem and the fit bothers me too. It looks like something I've seen Kelly Ripa in, only less flattering. Better luck next time...
Ah, now Lily Allen makes some questionable choices...sometimes choosing to wear something not-so-flattering. However, I genuinely like this dress...In fact, I kind of want it. It's soft and romantic, and it looks good on her because it emphasizes her teeny waist and the plunging reckline prevents it from looking dowdy. I think her hair and makeup work well with it too, giving the outfit a bit of edge without looking overdone. Nice work Lily's stylist.
W...T...F. How old is Demi Lovato...16,17? Does anyone know what I'm talking about when I say she looks like she's been in one of those old lady boutiques that carry things with "pizazz" like gold lamé shirts, things with rhinestones, t-shirts that say things like "growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional" and other fun things to make the elderly feel like they are still young and hip? She looks like a cross between an Atlantic City grandmother and a contestant on Rock of Love. With an outfit (and makeup) like that, she could make a mint as an Adam Lambert impersonator.
Let's do a little side-by-side comparison of Michelle Williams. Outfit 1: adorable and flattering in a Suno dress, and killer platforms by Stella McCartney. Outfit 2: homely and unflattering in a Chanel Couture gown. I usually think Michelle Williams has good style, the colour looks pretty on her and I really want to like it...but eugh.
I bet when J.Lo's stylist pitched this Roberto Cavalli dress to her she used the words "sexy" and "exotic". When I see it "tacky" is the only word that springs to mind. She cleverly accessorized with even more animal print (see clutch) and plenty o' diamonds.
This is more like it. Rachel Bilson does animal print well. It's much less obvious than J.Lo, and the cut and fit still look hot. I think this is how animal prints should be done. It's less conventional and her simple black accessories are interesting enough to add an edge, but subtle enough not to push it over the edge.
Ew. I hate this. Maybe it's just her weird pose, but I really don't think this looks good on Lea Michele. The shiny dress looks off with the satin shoes. Normally, I'm into the big, high bun...but with her bangs, and her heavy eyes and lips it looks outdated and kind of awful. The dress looks like it's supposed to be a bit offbeat. Instead, she looks like she was styled by a dance teacher or a stage mom. On a somewhat related side note: I love glee.
I'm into the sheer skirt trend, and this Chanel dress that Kate Beckinsale is wearing does not dissapoint. I love the sleeves, and the beadwork at the top. Her loose hair works too.
Heel-less shoes
Lady Gaga is always snapped wearing something outrageous. Most recently, she's been seen looking like a high fashion witch in these gravity defying heel-less platforms by Noritaka Tatehana, aptly named Nightmare Shoes.
Surprisingly, this is not as pioneering as her hats made out of hair, PVC Elizabethan dress or the tea cup as an accessory. In fact, two years ago, Victoria Beckham hit the streets in these heel-less platform boots by Antonio Berardi
And in past seasons designers like Manolo Blahnik, Marc Jacobs and, coolest of all, Nina Ricci, have also come out with their own versions of a heel-less shoe.
from Nina Ricci's FW09 collection
I think what everyone is asking themselves is, how do you walk in them?
Apparently, they aren't that difficult. They're deliberately weighted in the platform in order to force your weight forward and down, so that you can't fall backwards. I'm still skeptical though.. I think I would need to try a pair on to believe it.
Would you? (I honestly think I would)

Trend Following: Utilitarian
I'm really enjoying the utilitarian trend right now. Here are some runway examples of the look:
from left: Marc Jacobs, Rodarte, Chloé, Burberry Prorsum
And now here are some military inspired pieces for less:
from left: All Saints jumpsuit $195.00, Mango jacket $185.00, Urban Outfitters shorts $48.00, jeffrey Campbell open-toe suede boots $158.00
These neutrals are so easy to wear, and to avoid looking like you are wearing a costume they look great paired with something floral, or girly. I especially love what the mango jacket looks like open over a soft shirt and some shorts.

Spring Trends: Boudoir Chic
Every spring/summer, we see a lot of really soft, feminine pieces and collections hit stores. This season there are lots of sheer fabrics, pale colours, ruffles, florals, lace and lingerie inspired pieces...
left to right: Alexander Wang, Chanel, Jen Kao, Marc Jacobs
Now for the recessionistas, here are a few pieces found in high street stores that were inspired by this trend:
clockwise from left: H&M 34.99, XXI, $34.00, ASOS £120.00 (GBP), Top Shop $55.00

Cannes Style
Carey Mulligan always has a great red carpet dress, and this Azzaro Gown is no exception. She's channeling old Hollywood and with her finger wave crop, smokey eyes and subtle makeup, she pulls it off flawlessly without looking costume-y.
I don't really know where to start with Evangeline Lily and this dress by Emilio Pucci... but this just isn't working for me. I can't pin point exactly what I don't like about this, but the length and the fit don't do much for her. It looks like spaghetti, or some craft project gone wrong. I don't love the colour, and the fringe down the front is a bit much. On the plus side, her boring accessories have toned it down enough for it not to be a total bust.
I don't have anything bad to say about this Gucci dress that Naomi Watts is wearing. It's simple, but not boring and she looks so soft and pretty in it.
Jennifer Hudson has lost a bunch of weight with Weight Watchers and she is looking great. Too bad this dress isn't doing much to show off her new figure. This dress creates curves, it doesn't compliment them. On Jennifer the cowl neck, the loose fabric under the arms and the draping at the hips looks a little bit sloppy.
I don't know if this Lefranc Ferrant jumpsuit would work on everyone, but Marion Cotillard seems to pull it off. On her it looks quirky and elegant. My only problem with this outfit is the shoes. They look a tiny bit theme-y... a different pair might have made this outfit look a bit more modern.
Prom anyone? While her sister Nicky looks fine, Paris Hilton always manages to look overdone. Too much spray tan and makeup, a prom-y updo and a typical dress make this the least surprising look so far.
Wait, did I call Paris Hilton's look the least surprising? Make that Lindsay Lohan's. The only surprise is that she managed to get dressed at all. She looks like she's going to a strip club. I'm not sure if the frayed hem is on purpose, but judging by the fact that the dress is so short you can practically see her underwear (assuming she is wearing any), I'd say it's a safe assumption the dress wasn't sexy enough for her so she grabbed a pair of scissors and put her design skills to use. WHY.

I love, I want!
OK, I know... this is meant to be a fashion blog. But how incredible is every single thing she is wearing in this video? I want it all!
I can't find exactly what she's wearing, but here are some pieces you can put together if you're obsessed with this video too:
Clockwise from left to right: Top Shop Mesh Cup Crop Corset ($60 USD), Henry Holland for Pretty Polly Super Supsender Tights via ASOS.com($24 USD), Linda Farrow Projects Roisin Murphy Half Moon Sunglasses via ASOS.com (£400 GBP), American Apparel Nylon Spandex Micro-Mesh Twist Scarf ($14 USD), Urban Outfitters BDG 5-pocket Shortie ($39 USD), American Apparel Unisex Long-sleeved Gingham Button-up ($54 USD), Vera Wang Lavender Label Rosalyn Two Band Wedge Sandal via Shopbop.com ($325 USD).
I know the sunglasses seem a bit outrageous and I'm sure you can find retro looking sunglasses for a whole lot less...but they are 24-karat gold and insanely special, so there they are.
